About Proximiti Communications
History
Proximiti was founded in late 2004 as a spin out of a publicly traded CLEC called Z-Tel.
The two founders of Proximiti are Gregg Smith and Chuck McDonough.
Smith is the CEO and McDonough the Chief Technology Officer.
They served these same roles at Z-Tel.
As part of the spin out, Proximiti recruited 15 key members of the software development and network architecture and management teams.
Z-Tel had over 300,000 customers and generated over $300MM in annual revenues including major wholesale relationships with MCI and Sprint.
Z-Tel was a competitive local exchange carrier that included as part of its service offerings revolutionary new services such as the Personal Assistant, a voice recognition platform that allowed voice dialing and menu navigation.
At one time, Z-Tel provided services to over 1MM customers.
Proximiti was founded to capitalize on the development of voice over IP and enhanced services.
It’s first services were centered around hosted small business deployments and remains a major business line today.
Since 2006, Proximiti has focused its development teams on integrated software applications with a focus on professional services, medical, and other health care applications.
The company has focused extensively on product development building a complete set of capabilities meeting the needs of the changing communications environment.
Key Capabilities
The cost of communications has continued to decline, equipment including smart phones, tablets, and even household devices get computer power and network connectivity, and people optimize all services and equipment to best meet their needs.
This new environment is changing rapidly and more is likely ahead.
We have put together under one company these key capabilities and are uniquely capable of meeting the challenges of serving diverse client needs or those of our partners:
- Full IP communications with VOIP that serves domestic and international customers
- A nationwide wireless network (we are a carrier) with our own HLR that allows Proximiti to fully configure and manage wireless usage and service sets on a granular level. We can also offer any wireless service and provide specialized cell phones for use by consumers.
- We can actually integrate IP and wireless to a device level or even for a company
- Extensive set of hosted server applications that provide communications efficiency (virtual PBX or hosted key system for companies as one example)
- Revolutionary (patent pending) technology called connector that can interface with key management systems allowing for real time integration of communications activity on any user device to a back end management system. For example, a lawyer making a phone call in the office can at its completion instantly complete a billing ticket and it is automatically inserted into the legal management system
- We write software that works on almost all smart phones that allows users capabilities to access data management systems via Connector but also provide important security and usage management. Additionally, we leverage phone capabilities such as location based tracking.
- Complete back office support systems for VOIP and wireless calling and also software management
- A versatile front end web based order entry and customer portal capability for all products
Our web site highlights many of our key product areas, and demonstrates the capability to integrate communications with applications to address unmet needs of business and consumer users.
